Bateleur Eco Safaris (BES) is an activity-based, tented
bush camp situated in the heart of big 5 territory in South Africa’s
Timbavati Private Nature Reserve.
Bateleur Eco Safari is is perfect for company team building
events and incentive getaways.
Forming a part of the Greater Kruger National Park,
all artificial barriers between the reserves have been removed, allowing
the wildlife to roam free. As a result, there are plentiful sightings
of lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino, cheetah, a large variety
of antelope and 350 bird species.

Lodge
Bateleur Eco Safaris camp features 9 large, East African
Safari tents set along a sandy riverbed, under majestic Apple Leaf, Jackal berry
and Tamboti trees. The tents sleep 2 and if necessary, 3-4 people each.
Each tent is comfortably furnished with beds (custom-made for taller
guests), linen, towels, blankets, battery-operated reading-light and
a chest of drawers for clothing.

Home style cooking is provided for breakfast, lunch
and dinner and special dietary requirements can be catered for, by prior
arrangement.
There are separate ablution facilities and open-air bush showers fueled
by wood-fires.

bush walks, which teach guests to track large game on foot and provide
a fascinating insight into animal behavior, as well as the world of birds,
plants and insects. To ensure an authentic wildlife experience, BES exposes
guests to a variety of activities such as bush craft and survival skills,
bringing them closer to nature than ever before.

insects. To ensure an authentic wildlife experience, BES exposes guests
to a variety of activities such as bush craft and survival skills, bringing
them closer to nature than ever before.
Each visiting group enjoys a private safari, with
exclusive use of the camp and its relaxed, informal atmosphere. The absence
of electricity, mobile phone signals and strict schedules allows guests
to take advantage of adventures that present themselves at a moment’s
notice. The open-air showers and outdoor washbasins allow camp occupants
to stare at a million stars, or simply enjoy the vast expanse of pure
wilderness, while washing their cares away.

Bush Craft and Survival Skills:
Guests are involved in the following hands-on activities:
- Start a fire using the friction method developed by the San
Bushmen
- Methods of carrying a fire from one location to the next
- Making rope and snares from plants in the area
- Moulding pottery from clay collected at natural pans
- Discovering the edible & medicinal uses of indigenous plants
- Make spears, spoons, useful tools and traditional fighting sticks
- Carving out cups from wild melons
- Food from the bush, e.g. wild spinach, edible fruit and berries

Animals, birds and insects: a multitude of fascinating
information on animals, birds and insects

Sleeping under the stars: guests sleep out under
the stars in sleeping bags around a campfire. Participants do guard
duty in two's to keep a look out for animals and to maintain the
fire. An armed guide is present with the group.

Navigation: learn how to use a compass and map
to navigate accurately. Guests are divided into teams. Individuals
must work together using a compass and map to reach various objectives.

Rifle craft: guests are instructed on the theoretical
and safety aspects of rifle craft including:
- History to firearms
- Parts of the rifle and ammunition
- Safe operation and use of the rifle
- Malfunctions of the cartridge
- Fundamentals to rifle craft
- Firing postures
- Once familiar with the above the shooters take part in a shoot
using static and mobile targets under the tutelage of professional
instructors - no prior firearm knowledge or skill is necessary.

Reptile Presentation: a top South African snake
and reptile expert will provide you with a wealth of knowledge
and interesting information on the ecology of snakes, their venom

Game Capture: guests assist professional wildlife
veterinarians and conservationists in their game capture duties.
The game-capture operations form part of the holistic management
plans of the various conservation areas. Participants are involved
in all aspects of game capture and are safely guided through each
step by experienced professionals.

the day, solar telescope viewing provides an idea of what stars & the
