The Madikwe Game Reserve borders Botswana in the north and is approximately 40km from Gaborone, the Botswana capital.
It is a 95km drive from Zeerust and Groot Mariko ( The towns made famous by Herman Charles Bosman and his Oom Schalke Lourens character) and a 3 - 4 hours drive from Johannesburg.
From it's inceptoion in 1991, the Reserve has grown and matured and is home to a spectacular diversity of fauna and flora. The malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve, at 75 000 hectares, is now SA’s fourth largest reserve and home to some of the finest lodges in the country. It is home to the famous Big 5, the endangered African wild dog and a large variety of other mammal and bird life.
